UK HAE Patient Impact Survey

Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) is a rare, potentially life-threatening genetic condition affecting approximately 1,300 people in the UK. A survey initiated and funded by Takeda UK developed in partnership with HAE UK, involving 109 participants in the UK (including 95 patients and 14 carers), highlights the significant psychological, physical, and social impacts of HAE. Key findings reveal gaps in care, with 55% of participants desiring easier access to treatments, 39% needing more interaction with clinical teams, and 72% report that HAE impacts their mental health. The survey underscores the necessity for improved clinical awareness, equitable access to treatments, and enhanced psychological support to better manage HAE.
